Highlights

2020 has been a busy year for Scottish PEN. A new Project Manager, Lisa Clark, has joined our team and together with Trustees, committees, staff and members, we have worked remotely through the pandemic to continue our important work. Highlights so far include:

Proposing a resolution

If you would like to propose a formal resolution for discussion and consideration at the AGM please email info@scottishpen.org with the subject line: Scottish PEN AGM – Resolution including the following information:Your full name and contact detailsThe resolution in a Word document attachmentA statement as to why you are putting the resolution forward. We would ask that these documents are written in plain English and are as short as possible to ensure that every member can easily understand their relevance and significance in terms of Scottish PEN’s work and governance.

As an example, you may wish Scottish PEN to commit to supporting the case of a particular writer in the coming year, to confirm its stance on a particular issue, or to undertake a review of a certain element of governance. We are keen to hear about any issues of importance to members and are open to considering all resolutions that align with the interests of Scottish PEN and its membership.

If you are planning to put forward a resolution, please send these documents to us by 17:00, Thursday 8th October 2020. Any submissions received after this date will not be included in the final agenda.

Elections to the Board of Trustees

We currently have two spaces available on the Scottish PEN Board of Trustees. If you would like to be put forward for nomination to the board please email info@scottishpen.org with the subject line: Scottish PEN Board – Nomination including the following information:Your full name and contact detailsThe names of two Scottish PEN members who have agreed to support your nominationA 200-wordstatement as to why you would like to join the board and what you will bring to the organisation.Once this has been confirmed we will ensure your name is added to the ballot paper at the AGM. If you are planning to put yourself forward for election, please send these documents to us by 17:00, Thursday 8th October. We look forward to welcoming you on the day.
