Child’s Eye is Anita’s debut collection of prize-winning stories and linked poetry on the themes of love and loss. Told through the eyes of children and teenagers, relationships are at the heart of this work, and they are sometimes dysfunctional, sometimes loving, and sometimes not what they appear, at first sight, to be. The book also explores, in part, relationships between humans and animals, wild and domesticated. Whether dealing with man and bird or mother and child, the themes of love and transience radiate throughout.
“‘These Women I’ve Loved’ is a celebration of love and hope.” (Pippa Little)
“‘The Kitchen’ is a powerful and memorable piece of writing. Not the sort of poem you forget.” (Helena Nelson)
“Anita’s stories startle us back into all the clear-sight and confusion of childhood. Painful, funny, poignant, and populated by characters with vivid inner worlds: these stories may just have you stamping your foot at unfairness or howling with joy.” (Linda Cracknell)
