Scottish PEN has joined with over 25 human rights, arts and culture organisations to sign a letter to Home Secretary, Priti Patel MP, calling for transparency, support provisions and expanded eligibility criteria and commitment to targets in relation to the Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme.

PENning magazine, the Writers in Exile Committee biannual online journal, presents work by Scottish PEN’s member-writers alongside work by writers living in exile in Scotland.

This online event took place on the evening of Monday 15th November, and was led by the Scottish PEN Writers at Risk group. Featuring readings from PEN members and guests including Rebecca Vincent (RSF) and Cat Lucas (English PEN), the event highlighted the cases of Maria Ressa, Nedim Turfent, Daphne Caruana Galizia, Varavara Rao and Ahmet Altan

At the 2021 Scottish PEN AGM on Saturday 30th October, Carl MacDougall delivered his final report as President, before handing over to newly elected President and Chair of the Board of Trustees, Ricky Monahan Brown.

The Day of the Imprisoned Writer (15th November) is a chance for writers and PEN centres to stand in solidarity with at-risk or imprisoned writers everywhere.
