Isaac JacobovskyIsaac Jacobovsky was born in Lodz, Poland. He made his debut in the literary magazine The New Word, Warsaw, 11:1978. Studied Economics, Philosophy, Pedagogy and Law and worked as a lecturer of Formal Logic, Semantics and Philosophy of Science. He has authored scientific books and papers as well as works of fiction. Was a member of the democratic opposition in Poland 1974-1989. Expelled from high school, arrested, then suspended from the university, and later dismissed as a lecturer for reasons political and anti-Semitic. In 1988 Polish security service officers attacked his family causing his wife to lose their unborn son. In the early 90s he was a member of the executive board of the \’82Solidarity\’92 Trade Union\’92s Science and Higher Education Section. Had to flee Poland and temporarily lived in Sweden. In 2007 he and his four chidren came to and settled in Edinburgh. He continues to write literary essays, poetry, prose and drama in Polish. A member of The Edinburgh Jewish Literary Society and The Scottish PEN. |
