Una Flett has self-published This Other Father: A Family Memoir of India and Edinburgh.

It’s a memoir of her father’s life: his work as a member of the Indian Civil Service during World War Two and in the run-up to independence; also his second successful career as a Town Planner in post-war Edinburgh.

Una Leonie Flett

Una Leonie Flett was born in India in 1932 and educated in Scotland. Her first career was in classical ballet, her second in sociology, and her third in journalism and writing. She worked as a freelance, mainly for the Scotsman and the Herald, covering dance and the arts in general, and writing feature articles on a variety of subjects including travel in India, Sweden, and Spain. She has written two books, one on her experiences in the ballet world, Falling from Grace, the other a novel, Revisiting Empty Houses, both published by Canongate in the 80s. She has also written numerous short stories, two radio plays and a prize-winning theatrical play, Zozienka. She has also written for the Spanish press, in Spanish and English. In 1986 she moved from Edinburgh to southern Spain where she still lives.
